Captain Mitchell Messer was a native Floridian, born and raised in the Sunshine State. He grew up in Thonotosassa, Florida, and later made his home in Hudson, Florida. From a young age, he developed a deep love and respect for Florida’s unique ecosystems and coastal waters, a passion that shaped both his life and his work.

A certified SCUBA diver, free diver, and dedicated spearfisher, Mitchell immersed himself in the freediving and spearfishing community. His knowledge of Florida’s coastal and offshore environments, made every trip aboard his boat a meaningful experience.

As a United States Coast Guard licensed Charter Captain and owner of Fish and Trips FL, Mitchell found true joy in helping others experience the beauty and adventure of being on the water. Whether fishing, spearfishing, sightseeing, or exploring island shores, he worked to ensure each outing was safe, memorable, and enjoyable.

Mitchell was known not only for his skill and passion, but for his kindness and generosity. He took the time to teach, encourage, and share his love of the water with everyone who stepped aboard. He especially loved seeing the excitement on a guest’s face after a successful dive or a great catch, and many clients became lasting friends. His family and friends remember him as one of the strongest, bravest, and most passionate people they have ever known.

We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord he trusted. His legacy lives on in the waters he loved, the community he inspired, and the many memories created through Fish and Trips FL.
